How to earn CPD Hours
Recognized Institutions for CPD Hours

 

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

Keeping in view the importance of Continuing Professional Development and following the guidelines set by IFAC, the National Council has prescribed mandatory C.P.D. requirements for its members, associates/fellows, practising, non practicing and senior students w.e.f. July 1994. The members/ have to acquire specified CPD credit hours in a calendar year.

The main features of the scheme are as follows:
Applicability:
The CPD hours are applicable to all members and senior students (PIII & PIV).
Exemption is granted to ill, incapacitated and retired members.
Minimum hours to be completed during a calendar year:
Practising Members (for Renewal of COP) 30 hours
Practising Member (for New COP) 20 hours
Non Practising Members 20 hours
Members overseas 5 hours
For Admission to Associate Membership 20 hours (commulative)
For Admission to Fellow Membership 20 hours
 Provision for Members Based in Remotes Areas:
The National Council in its 197th meeting decided that stations other than Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, located beyond radius of 50 KM from these cities would be treated as Remote Areas for the purpose of CPD. CPD Hours requirement for the members of Remote Areas would be as follows:
Fellows / Associates/ Students 10 hours
Certificate of Practice (new) 10 hours
Certificate of Practice (Renewal) 15 hours
CPD Hours System:
When you attend a Seminar, Conference or perform some other activity at/of ICMAP make sure to sign the Attendance Register placed specifically by the Members Section to maintain computerized record of CPD Hours earned. However, if a member attends seminar/conference at some other specified institution he/she should obtain an evidence of the participation and forward the same to the Members Section where the record is updated.

Every Member can access CPD hours statement through Members' Area on ICMAP website.

HOW TO EARN CPD HOURS

Participation in Seminar or Workshop approved - Within Pakistan : One hour for every two hours of actual participation
- Abroad : One hour for every one hour of actual participation
Lecturers at a Seminar / Workshop Eight hours per seminar or workshop
Participation in CPD Committee’s approved conference as:

Paper Writer Eight Hours
- Chairman of a Technical Session Actual Hours Subject to a maximum of 3 Hours
- Commentators Two Hours
- Study Group Leader (above credit is in addition to actual hours participation) Two Hours
- Participants One Hour for every 2 hours of participation
- As Member Seminar/  Conferences Committee Two Hours for each meeting
- As council Member or as a Member of a Committee setup by the Council of the Institute One hour for every four hour of actual participation
Contributing articles of professional importance in a professional journal Eight Hours per article
Writing an Article for the Institute’s Journal Eight Hours per article
Member submitting Technical Paper/ Report to a National Council Committee Three Hours per Paper / Report
Report / Comments on exposure draft of International Accounting Standard, provided the report/ comments are cleared by the Council for submission to IAS Board/IFAC Eight Hours
Drafting Cost Audit Rules/ Regulations Fifteen Hours
Reviewing draft of Cost Audit Rules/ Regulations Two Hours
Contributing a research paper to the Institute’s Research Department Five Hours
Completing any computer course from ICMAP computer centres One hour for every four hours of training time
