Learning methodologies

When we talk about learning methodologies one should take into account what type of exam it
will be like it is computer based or written because their learning methodologies are different. To
tackle former one every topic must be understood clearly but for later one practice is mandatory
as well like for CBEs. We may have different scenarios of each topic to understand well. We must
think through examiner’s parameter as well.
Instead of speaking about separate learning methodologies lets come to the commonalities.

Here are some tips to tackle one’s exam:
1. Learn the same information in a variety of ways: the research shows that different media stimulates different parts
of the brain. The more areas of the brain that are activated , the more likely it is that one will understand and retain
information.
2. Study multiples subjects each day, rather than focusing on just one or two subjects : it’s more effective way than
to deep-dive into one subject. In so doing,one brain will have more time to consolidate one learning.
3. Review the information periodically, instead of cramming; periodic review is essential if wants to move information
from short-term to long-term memory.
4. Simplify, summarize, and compress the information: using mnemonic devices like acronyms, as these are proven
to increase learning efficiency.

5. Take notes by hand, instead of using your laptop: scientists say that students who take notes by hand perform
better in tests and exams.
6. Test yourselffrequently: decades of research have shown that self-testing is crucial if one want to improve his
academic performance.
In the end ,it’s about cultivating strengths , learning and growing , so one can contribute more effectively. There’s hard
work involved, but I know one is up to the challenge.
